John Henry Holliday (* 14 August 1851 or at the beginning of of 1852 in Griffin, Georgia; "† 8 November 1887 in Glenwood jump, Colorado) admits under its pointed name Doc Holliday, was one of the most famous gun heroes of the wild west.

Life

Doc Holliday was born as a son of Henry Burroughs Holliday - a major of the US army - and Alice Jane McKay, on 14 August 1851. That documented in the family Bible of the father. It was born with a palate column and a Hasenscharte, which was repaired however by two physicians from its family. He could speak unhindered. Its nut/mother Alice died on 16 September 1866 at Tuberkulose, it is assumed that she stuck on her son. Its father Rachel Martin married three months after.

Briefly after the wedding the family pulled after Valdosta, Georgia, where John visited the Valdosta of institutes. He got training in Rhetorik, grammar, mathematics, history and languages (latin, French and Greek). it changed 1870 to the Dental School in Philadelphia, where it at the 1. March 1872 the doctor title received. The conclusion photo shows it with bright hair and brightens eyes.

It practiced for a while as a dentist in Atlanta, until it got sick with 21 at Tuberkulose, one gave it only some months. It hoped to reach a Linderung of its illness by dry climate therefore it pulled into the west. In hope to know its cough lindern he began to drink excessively much. 1873 it established itself in Dallas in the Elm Street. There it began to also play, which it regarded as welcome source of income. In January 1875 he was arrested the first time, he had himself a shooting in a Saloon supplied, where however nobody was hurt, he was acquitted. After he had been condemned because of "playing", he left Texas.

By its hot temper and his attitude that it was better, by force to die as by its illness, he acted annoyance in, the alcohol abuse always worsened also still. Meanwhile become, he pulled professional players to the west, where playing was legal. It followed thereby always the gold fever cities, among other things Denver, Cheyenne and Deadwood, where it became acquainted with 1876 Wyatt Earp. it made 1877 in away Griffin station, where itself Earp its reminded. In the unequal friendship Earp was the deliberated planner, while Doc the Hitzkopf was. 1878 strengthened their friendship, when both established themselves in Dodge town center, where they facilitated cowboys with the pack of cards. In the September of the same yearly Doc Earp in an ambush saved the life. 1880 he took part in Earps silver mine business and became rich. However it was pulled in thereby into a war, which culminated in the shooting in Tombstone. In the side of its friend and its brothers, Virgil Earp and Morgan Earp, he participated in the legendary Gunfight in the o.k. Corral. The whole duel, with which the two McLaury of brothers and Billy clan clay/tone were killed, is to have taken approx. 30 seconds.

After the revenge murder at Morgan Earp it fled with the family Earp after Colton, California. On the way there Earp started its Vendetta and shot in Tucson at the railway station one of the men, whom responsible for the murder he made. Further dead ones should follow, therefore Doc turned it away from it and went from now to separate ways. 1885 saw themselves it for the last time in Denver.

He spent the remainder of its life in Colorado. it shot 1884 in a controversy, with which by five dollar, which he could not pay, Billy everything was into the arm. Because of its illness it was not guiltily found. 1887 worsened its state of health dramatically, and he went into the health resort Glenwood jumps. It led from there on a calm and withdrawn life and converted by its friend Martha Anne "Mattie" Holliday, a cousin and nun, to the catholicism.

Its famous last words are to have been the desire for Whiskey and "This is funny", because nobody thought that it will die without boots. With it its way companion was Big Nose Kate Elder, which maintained it to last.

1886 meant Wyatt Earp over it in an interview: "Doc which A dentist whom necessity had larva A more gambler; A gentleman whom disease had larva A more frontier vagabond; A more philosopher whom life had larva A caustic wit; A long lean ash blond fellow nearly DEAD with consumption, and RK the same time the most skillful gambler and the nerviest, speediest, one DEAD-reads with A gun that I more ever knew."
