With Touchpads however the picture screen surface is drucksensitiv, so that an operation is possible for the hand e.g. also by contact; this is not with Digitizern the case.
Tablet PC use the same procedures around the positioning and write pressure to determine.
Alternatively to the pin also a puck as mentioned can be used, that as a computer mouse over the tray moved and with the help of a hair cross more exact aiming on the tray is made possible.

For Tablet PC by Microsoft the Windows XP Tablet PC edition was developed. It is optimized on keyboardless working with the Stift.In their is integrated a handwriting recognition, the also biomechanical characteristics such as write pressure and pin inclination evaluated (if available). Generally the operating system was adapted by different characteristics on the operation without keyboard. Largest manufacturer of diagram trays is Wacom. In addition as only trays get along from Wacom without battery in the pin and recognize its inclination (inclination recognition momentarily only with the intuos series).
