Failure-collection-supported modification and/or Design Review Based on failure mode (DRBFM) is a quality method, which accompanies the development process of a process/a product. It is used in the framework of the quality management for preventing antibugging.

Origin

Design Review Based on failure mode was developed by Toyota and is successfully used there. It developed from the realization the fact that changes the highest error potential contained and became large parts from the FMEA (possibility of error and influence analysis) deduced.

Term explanation

The acronym DRBFM stands for "Design Review Based on failure mode" and points the substantial elements out in the procedure:

• DR = Design Review: Examination of the development by internal and external experts (customer, supplier), who are even not involved in the project.
