Dennis L. Meadows is an economist (* 1942).

It studied chemistry in Montana and completed additionally a management study at the M.I.T. Today he is director/conductor of the institute for politics and sociological research at the University OF New Hampshire.

On the basis a computer-aided simulation determined Meadows in its of the club OF Rome assigned study "the borders of growth" (1972) the system performance of the earth as marketing area in the period up to the year 2100. The used model considered a multiplicity of well-known connections of the characteristics and temporal delays between causes and effects. The analysis resulted in that by food scarceness, environmental pollution and scarcity of raw materials borders are set to the economic and population growth. Only by substantial efforts in particular with birth control and in environmental protection as well as by economical raw material cycles a long-term stability of the world economy can be achieved.
