DEMAG (German mechanical engineering corporation) was a German industrial trust.
The DEMAG company resulted 1910 in Duisburg from the union of the mechanical engineering institute L. to stucco wood AG, weather, the Duisburger mechanical engineering AG, Duisburg, and the Benrather engine works GmbH, Benrath (1896 gegr.).
The mechanical engineering institute L. stucco wood AG goes on in the year 1819 the created mechanical workshops raking place & CO. in weather at the Ruhr back. One already began 1840 with the building of Kranen.In this range became DEMAG one of the prominent enterprises. Thus one designed 1910 to date world largest floating crane for threw Harland & Wolff in Belfast, which needed these for the building of the passenger liners Olympic and Titanic. Besides also locomotives, railway goods railroad cars as well as - during the Second World War in the work Berlin Staaken - armoured vehicles (v.a. Bergepanther) were produced. 1954 were developed with DEMAG the first fully hydraulic excavator.
After DEMAG on the sector of the construction machines and crane belonged technically to the manufacturers leading world-wide, the company was transferred 1978 by the man man company with seat to Duesseldorf. 1996 were finally closed a Joint venture with the Japanese manufacturer Komatsu, which finally transferred completely the range large excavator from the Baumschinensektion and to Komatsu Mining renamed. The section the auto and mobile crane with seat was sold by the assumption of man man by Vodafone in two-bridges as well as other man man daughters at Siemens. In August 2002 the DEMAG work was transferred to two-bridges by the American construction machine producers Terex. The range of the hut and rolling technology went at Schloemann Siemag and under the name SMS DEMAG is resumed.
The activities in the building of plastics machines are in the today's DEMAG plastic Group, which manufactures injection moulding machines with head office in Schwaig with Nuremberg, a small machine work in Wiehe, a foundry in production locations in Strongsville (Ohio, the USA) and Ningbo (China) as well as a joint undertaking in Chennai (India). The entrepreneurial group applies in this market segment after conversion as world-wide third biggest mark - behind angel mechanical engineering, sword mountain, and Krauss Maffei plastics engineering GmbH, Munich.
