As deep sea fishery fishing with Schleppnetzen is usually understood on high lake beyond the continental shelf. The Schleppnetze are pulled thereby over the sea-bottom, and after which present state of the art deep sea fishery into a depth knows by 2,000 m is operated. History

Traditional fishing of deep sea fish has a long tradition in the Pacific, in addition, in the Atlantic ocean within the range of larva Irish Republican Army and the Azores.

These states were replaced by other deep sea fleets, which spread fishery zone (EEZ) during the 1980er and 1990er at first along the continental shelf and on submarine high surfaces within their 200 miles fished, later then also beyond these delimitations. To them particularly fishing fleets made of New Zealand belonged and into the 1980ern French fleets in the northeast Atlantic into the late 1970er year.

Effects

The nets, with which the fishery industry goes today on fishing, go getting more deeply than 1.5 kilometers and within 20 minutes 60 tons fish from the depths of the seas. 40% of all fishery reasons lie in the meantime in the deep sea, more deeply than the continental shelf. The modern technologies are so effective that the Potenzial at fish is no longer only harvested, but diminished in the wahrsten sense of the word.

Devastations, like that nature protection organizations such as Greenpeace, which are arranged by Trawlern with their Schleppnetzen, are comparable with the eradication in the rain forests.

According to statement of the nature protection organizations the basic dragging net fishery destroys on high lake irreparably singular underwater ecological systems. They request the UN-general assembly to express itself for a moratorium for the deep sea fishery. Deep sea reefs, which used 5,000 years for the emergence, are destroyed by deep sea fishery in few minutes.

Endangered kinds

A study of Canadian scientists (see chapters: Literature) showed that at least five kinds are threatened by deep sea fish strongly endangered and by becoming extinct. Deep sea fish need, probably as a function of the ecological conditions, often 12 to 30 years, in order to become sex ripe and produce descendants. This long ripe time is responsible together with the overfishing in the past years for the strong decrease of the populations.
