The day of the open door is one day, on which institutions, mechanisms, companies or the like for visitors are opened. A goal of such days is that the visitors can inform about this mechanism. Usually most ranges of this mechanism are accessible for inspection.

Many companies/institutions organize the "day of the open door" regularly (annually, every two years, every five years), others implement it uniquely, approximately for opening or to a certain cause, for example to the city celebration or to the existence of a company. More frequently than once in the year the "day of the open door" is not organized.
