The Daimler Benz Aerospace AG was a German air and space travel company, which belonged to the group of firms Daimler Benz, and after the fusion with Chrysler, to DaimlerChrysler.

She was originally called with full name: German Aerospace AG, then change of name too: Daimler Benz Aerospace AG. After the fusion renamed by Daimler Benz with Chrysler again in DaimlerChrysler Aerospace AG. The abbreviation and the Firmenlogo as distinguishing feature were always maintained.

The German Aerospace AG originated in to 19. May 1989 by the fusion to Daimler Benz of the belonging:

  • Dornier GmbH
  • MTU engine and turbine union Munich/Friedrichshafen GmbH
  • two parts of the AEG AG

to the German Aerospace AG, abbreviation: Daimler Benz Aerospace AG. This abbreviation should become the name, under which the enterprise in the public admits became. On 6 September 1989 the Daimler Benz Aerospace AG MBB took over and became thereby the air and space travel company of Germany largest with distance.

After the case of the wall the Daimler Benz Aerospace AG engaged itself strongly in East Germany. She transferred those VEB airplane-thrown to Dresden and VEB the repair work in Ludwig field. The Dresdens Elbe aircraft plants came to the German Aerospace airbus. In November 1991 the Daimler Benz Aerospace AG created the Jena Optronik GmbH in Thuringia together with the Jenoptik GmbH from Jena. 1993 were integrated the RST Rostock into of Bremen the space travel range of the Daimler Benz Aerospace AG.

On 1 January 1995 the German Aerospace AG in Daimler Benz Aerospace AG was renamed, in November 1998 finally in DaimlerChrysler Aerospace AG.

The Daimler Benz Aerospace AG was always with European air and space travel projects, e.g. of the ESA or of airbus, on German side the prominent enterprise. The Daimler Benz Aerospace AG therefore because of its intensive public work (lobbying) of that, in air and affairs of space travel rather badly informed, even often regarded public as the German space agency.

After the fusion of Daimler Benz AG with the Chrysler corporation the Daimler Benz Aerospace AG in "DaimlerChrysler Aerospace" was renamed. Under this name the enterprise, until it was combined in the year 2000 with the French Matra and the Spanish CASA to European air and space travel company EADS, existed however the subsidiary MTU again separated at the nut/mother company the DaimlerChrysler remained.

The Daimler Benz Aerospace AG was the largest arms exporter of Germany. Their main business fields were however the German airbus portion and the German portion of the successful European Ariane 4 booster rocket. Besides it was main or subcontractor of numerous research satellites or space probes of the ESA.
