A city magazine is a magazine, which dedicates itself to local topics of a city or a region, usually a meeting calendar to music meetings, exhibitions, films and similar service sides contains.
City magazines developed in the 70's as part of the alternative culture. Today they belong however frequently to large medium companies.
As forerunners of the city magazines since 1955 the Village Voice appearing in New York can be considered. In the USA such magazines are called alternative weeklies.
The first German city magazine was the Hobo appeared from 1971 to 1977 in West Berlin.
Many homeless person newspapers have likewise urban purchase.
