Cyanide fish is an illegal catch method particularly in Southeast Asia. Primarily the chemical compound sodium cyanide (English sodium cyanide) becomes - narrow relatives a connection of cyanide potash (potassium cyanide) - assigned. Starting from 2000 intensified controls ensured opposite that dynamite fish and seizing for increasing avoiding on this illegal, not selective fishing method, particularly because it is loudless applicable.

The extremely low wages Fischer in few structured, remote areas, which do not offer income alternatives to them, force to accept it the health risks and possible condemnations by prosecution organs.

Many Fischfanggebiete and dipping places in completely Southeast Asia, before already strongly by dynamite fish damaged, were strongly destroyed thereby on years outside, up to the total loss. Many of the slowly growing Korallen, above all the branched Korallentypen, are an important save area for young fish and fish brood and are now missing. Most legal and illegal methods can for itself regard a stable ecological system i.d.R. not to destroy.
