The countries Rover Defender is the successor of the series country Rover series.
It is available in different model variants, which can be combined from three lengths (90, 110, 130) and various kinds of roof (station Wagon = closed with windows, Hardtop = closed without window, Softtop = tarpaulin, etc.):
Beyond that there are still different special designs. Since the Defender is developed in the unit construction system, a Softtop can be made at little expenditure e.g. from the Hardtop. The numbers in the model names indicate traditionally the wheel bases in tariff. Of it however in favor of round numbers with the Defender one deviated. Equipped with different engine variants originally, there is the country Rover Defender for some years in Germany only as 2,5-Liter-Turbodiesel-Direkteinspritzer. Center of the nineties developed from the 200er row the series 300 Tdi, with 83 KW (113 HP) with 4000 1/min., whereupon the variant TD5 followed as 5-Zylinder-Diesel with pump nozzle system, 90 KW (122 HP) with 4200 1/min. the maximum torque of the engine amounts to 300 Nm with 1.950 1/min. the high performance V8-Version is not directly available in Germany. The model rows 90 and 110 are delivered with classical white-painted steel wheels or with 5-Speichen-Leichtmetallfelgen. The 130er row gives it only with Stahlfelgen.Der Defender has a very stable leader framework; this leads despite the fact that many parts (e.g. autobody sheets) from aluminum are manufactured, to an unloaded weight of over 1800 kg. The road performances on the road are rather small: The Defender with 300Tdi-Motor reaches 129 km/h, the TD5 scarcely 138 km/h with high noise level. The Defender plays its strengths off the road out: the translation very short in the area course, to which permanent all-wheel drive with blockable central differential and high oh cross-setting leave as well as a wading depth (driving through water) of 50cm it in the standard most situations to already master.
