The contract of Humen (chin. pinyin: Tioyue) was closed on 8 October 1843 between Qing China and England and supplements the contract of Nanking of 1842.
It specifies customs tariffs for certain merchandise such as dte, silk, cotton, Wollwaren, metals, ivory and alcoholic beverages. In addition it contains a so-called according to which all rights, which China third states grants, automatically also it is entitled to England. Finally British citizens were excluded from the Chinese law.
