Friedrich Victor Conradin Zschokke (* 14 April 1842 in Solothurn; "† 17 December 1918) was a Swiss civil engineer and building contractor in the range hydraulic engineering, founder of the Zschokke group.
On 14 April 1842 Conradin Zschokke in Solothurn became (Switzerland) (according to other data in Aarau) born as a son of Alexander Zschokke.
Conradin Zschokke studied 1862 after its Matur at the Swiss federal poly-technical school in Zurich civil engineering, received it the diploma.
First he worked 1862 at his uncle in the company & Zschokke ", starting from 1864 in the company "Antoine Castor "in Paris. Already soon it the construction supervision for many bridge construction projects of the company was transferred there into France, Algeria and Austria Hungary. Already on its all first building site he learned a special engineering, which so-called pneumatic foundation work. By the application of this technology in the bridging and harbor construction he attained late world-wide reputation.
1867 married Conradin Zschokke Arlesienne Eugenie Faure. From this marriage three sons followed, two however already died in the infancy. The marriage became 1909 divorced, it before-light now its previous life companion Antoinette Disque. With it he got 1870 a further son.
1872 created Zschokke with two of its French teammates a first building company named "Castor, Hersent et Zschokke ". According to other data it created only 1876 with its the company "Zschokke and Montagnier ". After death Montagniers invented Zschokke the first dredger. In these years Zschokke built numerous bridges, in Germany particularly at the Danube.
In the year 1879 (according to other data 1890) Conradin Zschokke changed again back into Switzerland to Aarau and was active as civil engineer and/or building contractors, with sphere of activity Switzerland, in addition, Italy (adjustment of the Tiber) and Spain.
In the year 1890 Zschokke was appointed 1892 to the chair for hydraulic engineering to the Swiss federal poly-technical school Zurich appointed, the professor, later also as the doctor honoris causa.
It became in these years to the pioneer of Swiss hydro-electric power plants. Switzerland as country lacking in raw materials was dependent for the development of their industry on this kind of the energy production. 1897 were established at the high Rhine between the Rheinfelden of Baden and Rheinfelden in Switzerland Europe first river-run power plant, at the same time the first low hydro-electric power plant of the world, after plans by Conradin Zschokke. Also the hydro-electric power plant Hagneck at the Bielersee comes from Conradin Zschokke.
1894 became Conradin Zschokke member of the aargauischen large advice, later also national council until 1917. Due to this mandate it had to give up to 1899 its Professur in Zurich. 1902 became Conradin Zschokke national council president.
Starting from 1905 national council Zschokke was also a president of the reorganization commission for the Swiss federal measurement.
1909 created Conradin Zschokke "the corporation Conrad Zschokke ".
Zschokke was appointed by the Upper House of Parliament of Switzerland 1910 the first president of the Swiss federal commission for measure and weight (EKMG).
With French business partners it created 1914 a further enterprise, "the Entreprises de Grands Travaux Hydrauliques "(EGTH) in Paris. The technical line of the buildings of hydro-electric power plants of this company was however further at the Zschokke AG.
On 17 December 1918 Conradin Zschokke at the age of 76 years died.
After death Zschokkes came the company due to collapse of the (Banque d'Escompte de Geneve) into economic difficulties. In the post-war period the enterprise recovered however again and expanded world-wide. Gradually numerous rival businesses were taken over.
Those world-wide active Zschokke group with the business fields master planning and - enterprise, building production as well as real estate services developed with a conversion of last over 1.5 billion Swiss Franconia to with distance largest Swiss building company.
On 15 November 2005 the company-leading Zschokke getting thing AG communicated its fusion with the BATIGROUP getting thing AG retroactively to 1 January 2006 to the Implenia AG. The fusion took place with a taken as a basis from 65 per cent for Zschokke and 35 per cent for BATIGROUP. The Implenia Konzernleitung takes over the past Zschokke leader Christian Bubb.
