The term computer-aided plant management (RGAM) or English computer Aided Facility management (CAFM) designates a management, which serves the support of the Facility management by the information technology. The supply of information about the plants is the center of attention.

The tools of the CAFM are called CAFM software, CAFM applications or CAFM systems. There are so-called integrated systems, which unite several functions in itself. These applications are called also multi-functional systems. Applications with only a special function are called monofunctional applications.

In addition with respect to the industry between local and Web-based systems one differentiates. With local systems the data can be called up only by interlaced computers during the Web-based solution the necessary information in the Internet make available and thus also registered users of computers outside of the local network access to have.
