Colgate Palmolive [NYSE: CL] is a multinational company with master seat in New York, NY, (the USA).

The enterprise gained with approximately 36,000 coworkers in the financial year 2004/2005 a conversion of approx. 10.8 billion US Dollar.

History

In the year 1806 William Colgate created the Seifenfabrik Colgate & Company in New York. 1872 introduced Colgate a new product, Cashmere Bouquet, a soap. 1908 sold it its first tube tooth paste.

In the west of the United States the B.J. Johnson Soap company began 1864 with the production of a soap from and olive oil. The soap became so popular that the company was designated after it - Palmolive.

The Palmolive company was united to 1926 with the soap manufacturers Peet Brothers to the Palmolive Peet company. Finally 1928 the Palmolive Peet company and Colgate & Company was united to Colgate the Palmolive Peet company. Only 1953 were changed the company names to the today's Colgate Palmolive company.

In the initial years of the television the company Colgate Palmolive with Procter & Gamble competed as a sponsor of soap operas.
