CKD (Completely Knocked down) and the weaker form SKD (Semi Knocked down; also PKD = Partly Knocked down) designate production methods in vehicle production, with which for the export into individual countries complete vehicles, but kits are not manufactured. Reason for the CKD manufacturing are mostly the extremely high import duties for complete vehicles, which can amount to in some cases over 100%, whereas part-divided or completely divided vehicles are clearly lower declared.

The CKD manufacturing is particularly in developing countries so mentioned as compromise much likes. On the one hand the investments remain to be imported being able to be usually reequipped visiblly, since no sheet metal presses must be set up, complex aggregates such as engines, transmissions, cockpits and electrical connection as a whole and in such a way final assembly lines easily on other motor vehicle types for the car manufacturer. On the other hand a large part of the creation of value in the market takes place, in which the vehicle is sold.

With the CKD procedure the body is welded still locally from individual parts and partial's groups already welded (so-called assemblies), while with the SKD or PKD procedure the raw body is as a whole imported. Thus one saves the investment into a local Karrosseriebau, which represents the second largest investment in tooling in the automotive manufacture to a press work. An example is the MAN Lion's Coach, whose body from the work in Ankara, Turkey, among other things to is exported Mexico, and for the local selling onto a locally manufactured CKD chassis is installed there.

If vehicles will become nearly completely in the country of origin manufactured, however for the export again partly apart-built, or first details in production omitted, one speaks of CBU (Complete Body unit) - vehicles. An example is here the small transporter Mercedes Benz Sprinter, which is built for the selling in the USA completely in Germany (Duesseldorf), however without the mark-typical details. It is produced without radiator grille, steering wheel and inscriptions, dismantled before the dispatch again into 4-5 partial's groups and assembled locally by the company Freightliner likewise belonging to the DaimlerChrysler company again, provided with Freightliner Insignia and driven out locally as Freightliner Sprinter.

Vehicles, which were already developed with view of a CKD manufacturing, are - mostly as world cars so mentioned - e.g. in the programs of Fiat (Palio, Siena), "Škoda (Fabia) and Dacia (Logan).
