History from Chrysler to 1998

After walter P withdrew. Chrysler 1919 as a vice-boss from general of engine, it accepted an offer of Willys Overland and became acting vice-president of the enterprise. 1957 acquired Chrysler of Ford portions of the French company Simca, 1963 possessed Chrysler 63 per cent at Simca.1964 took over Chrysler the majority with the British roots Group, those the automarks Hillman, Sunbeam, Singer and Humber as well as the truck marks Karrier and Commer herstellte.1967 acquired Chrysler the majority at the Spanish truck manufacturer Barreiros Diesel SA.1978 had the European activities due to economic difficulties at Peugeot to be sold.

1987 acquired Chrysler the American of engine corporation (AMC), whereby also the mark jeep changed into the possession Chryslers.

History of DaimlerChrysler starting from 1998

1998 fused Chrysler with Daimler Benz in a "Merger OF Equals" ("fusion under resembling") to the new DaimlerChrysler AG. The new enterprise has its seat in Stuttgart, the executive committee (first in equal numbers occupied by both company parts) meets however changing in Stuttgart and Auburn Hills.

After two years the CO chairman Robert Eaton explained his resignation, so that Schrempp became the exclusive chairman of the board. Gradually also the proportion of votes in the executive committee shifted ever more in favor of the German members.

On 28 July 2005 the company communicated Schrempps resignation after a meeting of the supervision advice. Its successor became effective 1 January 2006 a Chrysler boss Dieter Zet.
