The Camaro is "a Pony Car "(a small sports car) of the US-American car manufacturer Chevrolet to the general the engine company (GM) belongs. According to Chevrolet the name is derived "Camaro "from the French word "camarade ", which can be translated with "Kamarad "or "to friend ".

The world-well-known sporty car developed for in the middle of the 60's extremely successful Ford Mustang as competition to at that time and was a typical representative of the Muscle Cars. The Camaro was so successfully sold fast to one of the most popular sports cars in the USA, it that the German car manufacturer OPEL (also GM) built and less successfully on the German market did not sell the OPEL Manta as German copy to the Camaro.

The standard motorizing of the Camaros were always large volume V8 engines beyond 200 HP. Likewise offered R6, late V6 or R4 in the Siebzigern were considered as "savings versions ".

Were brought from 1967 to 2002 four different Karosserie-Varianten on the market. Only the Top model offered in the USA carries the designation SS, derived from supersport and was available as and Cabrio. These models however not by general of engine manufactured to separate of SLP, an independent Tuner and noble, comparably with the M-GmbH with BMW or AMG with Mercedes Benz.
