Chess Notes was a chess magazine for chess historians.
Chess Notes appeared between January 1982 and December 1989 eight times. Publisher was Edward winters. In altogether 1933 small articles ("notes") chess historians discussed different topics from chess history. Much importance was attached on source data, so that these articles had a quite scientific character.
The discussed topics were far varied. Thus one looked for missing person portions of old chess masters, asked for of them used and to acquaintance out and pointed old literature places, in which chess was mentioned. In addition the magazine (usually very critical) contained reviews of newer chess literature.
1989 appeared the magazine for the last time as independent publication. Starting from 1993 Edward continued winters its Chess Notes as column in different magazines, among them the German chess report. From 1998 to 2001 the Chess of notes (No. 2188 - 2486) in the magazine new one appeared exclusive in chess, since 2002 only on-line one in the Internet.

Already starting from 1925 the Frenchman gas clay/tone Legrain operated a comparable column Les de in the chess magazine Les Cahiers de Francais. Starting from 1994 Harald E worked. Ballo in the chess report with its chess notes. Ken Whyld drew up the Notes and Queries in the British from 1978 to 2003 chess magazines.
