The company Celestron is world-wide one of the largest manufacturers of telescopes and accessories for the amateur astronomy. The head office of the enterprise is Columbia St.Torrence, California, the USA.

Under amateur astronomers the so-called Celestron C8, 8 " (8 Zoll= 20.3 cm) a Schmidt Cassegrain telescope, which set yardsticks in its quality and handling, was very successful and common. Also larger variants C11 with 11 " and C14 with 14 " openings exist in same design. As stand a parallaktische installing with adjusting, which can be served very comfortably, served these telescopes by stepping motors.

Today the enterprise produces predominantly telescopes with fully automatic positioning also using government inspection department steered engines.
