Carl Adolph Overweg (* 28 November 1805 in Unna, "† 27. May 1876 in Letmathe, today city Iserlohn) was a German politician and Industrieller.

Entrepreneur career

After a study of the jurisprudence in Bonn, there, Overweg occurred member of the Corps Guestphalia 1826 the Prussian government service. 1842 he becomes landowner, 1852 acquires he the house Letmathe. It engages itself in the mining industry and creates the Letmather . By supervision and whale doing burr mandates with the bill Hibernia, the citizen of Berlin commercial company, the German bank and the Schaaffhausen' bank association he ascends to one of the arriviertesten German Industriellen. By its political influence it provided for the building of the Zweigstrecke Letmathe Iserlohn (1864), with whose development 1868 the was discovered.

Political influence

Overweg was from 10 November 1848 up to 20. May 1849 parliamentary groupless member of the Frankfurt national assembly for Iserlohn, 1850 he is a delegate in the Erfurter union parliament and until 1852 member of the first chamber of the Prussian federal state parliament. From 1858-1873 it belongs to the Prussian Lower House, from 1871-1874 is it member of the realm daily. It belonged to left and/or liberal parliamentary groups always moderately.

Family

Its son August Overweg becomes likewise a politician. Its grandchild Friedrich Overweg (born in Iserlohn Letmathe) sells 1918 the entire property of house Letmathe at the prince Adolf to Bentheim, Tecklenburg and Rheda.
