Carl Oberg (* 1897 in Hamburg, "† 1965 in Flensburg) was a national socialist, buyer and SS-and police leader (HSSPF) in Paris with the title upper group leader and general of the police.

After war service in the 1. It appeared to world war as a fighter in free corps, met here inverting nail and participated actively in the cut Putsch 1920. In Hamburg it was active as an importer for tropical fruits, was unemployed afterwards long time. Around 1930 it acquired a shop for tobacco goods ("drink-resounded") in Hamburg.

As an early member of the NSDAP Oberg went 1932 to Munich. There he co-operated with Heydrich. It is assumed that it was at this time Heydrichs right hand in the SD. It was involved in the Putsch on sides of the SS as a co-ordinator. He became a personnel chief of the SD-principal office in Munich. it received the command to 1938 over a SS-unit in Mecklenburg, later became it police head in Zwickau.

In 2. World war went to Oberg to Poland and became SS and police leader (SSPF) in the district radome (8 August 1941 to 12. May 1942). It was responsible for the arrest of Jews and for Polish forced laborers.

1942 it became to 5. May 1942 it was shifted as HSSPF to Paris into the occupied France. It fought above all the also by shootings of hostages. It was involved in exposed place at the "final solution" of the Jew question, inserted the "yellow star", about 75,000 Jewesses and Jews by it and its coworkers into the extermination camps was transported. Oberg became and general of the police. It carried the surnames for the Frenchmen "the butcher of Paris". After had released the allied France, in December 1944, Oberg received still the command over a troop, which was directly subordinated to Himmler.

1945 taken by the Americans imprisoned, were spent Oberg 1946 first in Wuppertal condemned to death, to France, condemned on 9 October 1954 in Paris because of war crimes to death. 1962 it was begnadigt to lifelong prison, released 1963. Afterwards it lived in Flensburg.
