The Carl Friedrich of Siemens donation was brought 1958 on initiative of Ernst von Siemens (1903 - 1990) of the Siemens & Halske AG and the Siemens Schuckertwerke AG as non-profit public donation into being. Their donation purpose is the promotion of the sciences.

Ernst von Siemens supported the donation from his private possession and bequeathed it beside the seriousness of Siemens music donation and the seriousness of Siemens art donation its private fortune. It carries the names of the family member (Carl Friedrich of Siemens), who led the Siemens company during the times of the national socialism.

The work of the donation covers a scientific lecture program and guest meetings, for which the donation makes its mechanisms available, further the assignment of Carl Friedrich of Siemens Fellowships to outstanding scientists, an advancement program for the addition of scientific literature for university libraries in the new Lands of the Federal Republic and the mechanism of a Stiftungsprofessur to DOES Dresden.
