Carl Friedrich of Siemens donation serves the goal of the promotion of the sciences. It was created 1958 on initiative of the entrepreneur Ernst von Siemens. Managing director of the donation was starting from 1964 the journalist Armin Mohler, since 1985 the donation of Heinrich Meier is led.

The donation has the following emphasis:

• Meeting of scientific courses of lectures with lectures of individual advisers, interdisciplinary courses of lectures as well as their publication (since 1958).

• Guest meetings, above all scientific conferences and international symposiums, with which the mechanisms of the donation are made available. The topics are fan-spreading and reach from scientific topics over literature and music science up to philosophical and culture-historical aspects. Particularly promoted thereby the contact between German and foreign scientists is.

• Assignment "Carl Friedrich of Siemens Fellowships" to outstanding scientists (since 1993). With these scholarships the conclusion of research of outstanding scientists is promoted.

• To mechanism of a Stiftungsprofessur to DO Dresden.

• Advancement program for the addition of the urgently needed scientific literature for university libraries in the new Lands of the Federal Republic.
