Bookseller (specializedlinguistically also: Sortimenter) are retail trade buyers, who specialized in the sales of books, whereby the assortment was adapted however to the market tendencies and becomes (e.g. Hearing books, new media). Basic condition is the interest in literature and the joy in reading. Bookseller is an occupation, which costs very much spare time, since then one reads. Pretty often a bookseller up to 20 books reads in the month, in order to ensure a good customer advisory service. The training takes three years and can in individual cases on two years be shortened.

Since then Internet also within this range the no more not to exclude is, gives it large booksellers such as Amazon and bol.de, which make "around the corner" strong competition for the small book shop. Owing to the book application of fixed prices the small assortments are protected, so that they can maintain ground with the correct specialization also against the "large ones". Many this "stationary" bookseller followed however with own Internet appearance their wholesalers book catalog or Libri.
