Beer garden one calls restaurants and/or the part of a restaurant, whose regaling in the free one takes place. The origin of these mechanisms (in the classical sense) is to be found in Bavaria. The traditional designation in Franconias is beer cellar. In Austria a beer garden also guest garden is called. In Switzerland the term garden economy is common.

Emergence

Beer gardens originated in in Bavaria in 19. Century in Munich, when predominantly bottom-fermented beer was drunk. This could be manufactured only in the cold months, then an appropriate decree of king Ludwig I. read, since the fermentation had to take place at temperatures between four and eight degrees. "The typical Bavarian beer garden is a restaurant and/or the part of such lain in the free one, whose enterprise is essentially to fair weather periods limited during the warm season. The requirement of the garden character requires a Situierung of the enterprise in the country, anyhow in the free one. The ideal picture of the beer garden makes possible to sit under large trees in the shade. Deficits existing to that extent can be compensated by smaller cultivations within the plant only limited. The garden character is determined either by a planting existing on the working area to substantial extent or by a planting existing in the environment to substantial extent. The overall view of the plant is crucial. "

The next logical step took place soon and apart from the pure storage the beer cellars soon also for the bar was used, by placing simple banks and tables under the trees. This led to it that these places became soon a popular trip goal of the residents of Munich, much to the annoyance of the smaller Bierbrauer remained in Munich.
