The building of unions AG with central administration in Hoyerswerda, resulted to 1989/90 from the privatisation VEB of the BMK coal and energy. Beside the central administration still the head offices northeast (Cottbus) and southeast (Dresden, Strehlener road 22) with their respective addresses existed.

1991 were taken over those building of unions AG with some subsidiaries, like development Grossenhain GmbH and SST Saxonia heavy transport GmbH of the Dyckerhoff & Widmann AG (DYWIDAG). 1992 took place via the walter building AG together with the assumption of the stock majority with the DYWIDAG.

The designation building of unions AG was void starting from 1994, after which the company had been integrated completely into the DYWIDAG.

Building projects the building of unions AG were among other things the highway entrance Dresden north, the Reha hospital Kreischa, the Elbcenter Dresden, the reorganization of the Pirna, the housing estates Solitude and Dresden in Dresden, the geriatric home the station Elsterwerda, Kronospan lamp RTS forest and the reconstruction of the George church in Dresden Loschwitz.
