The Bruker group of firms is an enterprise of the optical industry.

It consists of the divisions:

• Bruker bio spin (NMR, EPR, MRI, magnets)
• Bruker Daltonics (mass spectroscopy)
• Bruker Optics (infrared spectrophotometry)
• Bruker AXS (Roentgen spectroscopy)

Altogether approx. 3000 people in the different Bruker companies work. The conversion of the entire group amounted to 2003 more than 500 million US dollar.

Main locations are Switzerland, Germany, France and the USA. World-wide more than 25 firm locations are maintained and over 70 agencies in 60 countries. Customers are above all universities, research labs and the industry (chemistry, pharmacy etc.). With the produced devices can be analyzed firm, liquid and gaseous materials.

Examples of applications are the areas of the biotechnology, gene research, development of medicines, blood investigations (Cholesterol content), analysis of food and process control.

Enterprise history

1960 came it to the establishment of the Bruker physics AG into Germany, 1965 followed the establishment of the Spectrospin AG into Altstetten (Zurich) with 10 coworkers as the second member of the Bruker group. 1967 developed a HFX-90 spectrometer with 90 MHz an iron magnet as that world-wide first NMR spectrometers with complete Transistoren-Technologie. 1998 came it to a change of name of the Spectrospin AG to Bruker AG.
