The abbreviation BRIC stands for the initial letters of the states involved: ''' B ''' rasilien, ''' R ''' ussland, ''' I ''' ndien and ''' C ''' Croatian news agency.

The BRIC states contribute with approx. 40% to the population of world. They have a portion of the world-wide gross domestic product (approx. 33 trillion euro) of approx. 10% with growth rates from 5 to 10% per year. Prognoses forecast that the BRIC states 2050 become the G6-Staaten over wings.

On BRIC ever more financial products are emitiert, e.g. Fund, certificates etc.

Due to the economic stagnation in the industrial nations, the attention of the investors to the so-called BRIC states turned.

• Brazil: Raw material supplier, for soft (orange juice) and hard (iron ore) commodities
• Russia: considerable supplies of oil and above all natural gas
• India: Think tank and largest Generika manufacturer of the world
• China: low wages and diligence

Occasionally the BRIC states are extended by the inclusion of South Korea/Korea to the so-called BRICK states. Here South Korea is characterised by it that it is a developed industrialized country, nevertheless however high growth rates obtained.
