"Bread for the world" is 1959 a created action of church development co-operation. It is carried by all Evangelist land and free churches. The management of the action "bread for the world" is noticed by the dia.-conical work of the EKD registered association, which are legal entity of the action. Together with other actions and work areas, like for example the Diakonie disaster relief and hope for Eastern Europe the action is part of the range of the Diakonie here. Responsible person directress is Pfarrerin Cornelia Weitzel.

With the collected money above all self-help projects in developing countries are supported. The action is carrier of the DZI Spendensiegels.

The annual donation actions start in each case at the 1. Advent, the beginning of the church yearly. Each action stands under a certain slogan, which is to refer to particularly promoted projects.
