Branch post offices were mechanisms of the post office in 19. Jh., which were assigned to private individuals, in order to make the postal service on the flat country accessible. They developed approximately around 1897 (in Bavaria in April 1897 by way of trial) and were surface covering furnished after the re-organization in Bavaria and the German Reich starting from 1 October 1898.

They had usually only a rubber stamp in the box format (at the beginning also with ornaments) the pH. no insured letters were allowed to accept, postal orders etc. They were attached to a post office agency, which took over both the feed there and the further processing of the transmissions of branch post offices, therefore also always are on the letters and postcards the stamp of this superordinate post office. Often this superordinate post office place is indicated e.g. by the additive "tax"… NN in the post office helping placing temples"

Frequently those pH in places for excursions furnished, usually in restaurants, from small places on the flat country and from small suburbs of large cities are frequently quite rare it. The pH in the course of the conversion to so-called post offices II 1828 were dissolved, some branch post office stamps occur however to far into the 50's 20 Jh.
