The company Bleyle with seat in Stuttgart was created 1889 and was in the first half 20. Century of one of the largest German manufacturers of cord goods. The enterprise had to announce 1988 bankruptcy, the label name however by a Austrian subsidiary with seat to Pinggau was transferred. This manufactures knitted lady clothing.
The company Bleyle was created in the year 1889 by William Bleyle (1850-1915) from Feldkirch (Austria). After training in Ulm as retail trade buyer in the cigar trade and experiences as accountants and commercial agents for Stuttgart enterprises had Bleyle first the general store of a brother in field churches to resume, when this emigrated into the USA. 1885 he bought a cord machine, first only for the private use, in order to fit its six children out inexpensive. From this developed a business idea, which it converted 1889 in Stuttgart. It opened a yarn action "with production and sales of knitted goods". At this time Bleyle had five cord machines, about 5000 Marks own capital funds and eight persons employed. In contrast to other cord goods manufacturers of this time Bleyle did not let complete articles of clothing at the piece knit, but large courses, from which he let the individual parts cut and together-sew then. This procedure proved in the future as very successful.
To the first products, which the company Bleyle manufactured, belonged knitted which was very popular at this time. Production expanded soon, and 1901 referred the enterprise the first own factory building. 1903 followed a branch in Brackenheim, 1905 in Ludwigsburg. 1912 were referred new company headquarters in the in Stuttgart. One year later handed over to Bleyle the management at its sons max and Fritz; the company was now an open commercial company. 1905 amounted to the conversion of the enterprise a million Mark, in the year 1913 were already it five million. Also the number of employees had rapidly increased. 1910 had Bleyle zirka 1000 coworkers, 1918 were good it 2000.
The 1. World war brought no decrease to the demand with itself, had however noticeable effects on the quality of wool. Bleyles of supplies had been seized in the autumn 1914 for the army. Wool assigned thereafter was usually from relatively bad quality, so that the enterprise sold no more clothes from 1916 into the 1920er years under its label name, in order not to damage its call. In the year 1988 the company had to announce Bleyle bankruptcy. The MVG AG in Stuttgart took over the enterprise including the 1978 subsidiary created in Pinggau and acquired also the trademark laws. Today under the name Bleyle knitted lady clothes is brought on the market. In Pinggau approximately 50 coworkers work.
The most important product of the company Bleyle was long a half century the sailor suit. Besides starting from 1889 as well as trousers for doing gymnastics, riding and wheel driving were manufactured. After 1900 Turnkleidung and underwear for ladies as well as girl dresses were added. Cord clothes for adults were however by far less in demand than such for children. At this time it was publicised in Germany von Gustav hunter as reform clothes; Hunter created however its own enterprise in England. The success of Bleyle was based thus first particularly upon the which belonged around 1900 to the standard clothes for boys. 1915 was manufactured twelve different suit models. The enterprise did not manufacture the cord clothes, but offered to the customers also a repair service.
