Blackbeard (* 1680 "† 22 November 1718) was the pointed name of Edward Teach alias Edward Thatch, a well-known English Piraten, which exercised a short reign of terror in the Caribbean sea between 1716 and 1718.

It received the name Blackbeard because of its close black beard. Blackbeard, which fought frequently or with several blade, measurers and pistols behangen themselves showed, particularly became known because of the burning Lunten, which he had bound during the battle into his long beard. This feature, which it cultivated, let it become the epitome of the unerschrockenen Freibeuters.

Over its early life little is well-known, although one believes that he was born around 1680 in Bristol (England).
