Blackbeard (* 1680 "† 22 November 1718) was the pointed name of Edward Teach alias Edward Thatch, a well-known English Piraten, which exercised a short reign of terror in the Caribbean sea between 1716 and 1718.

It received the name Blackbeard because of its close black beard.
