The symbol bio endangerment marks (Biohazard - short form of the English term "biological hazard") biological dangers. Dangers for humans and environment those are meant of biological substances or organisms go out. Examples are medical wastes, with micro organisms contaminated biological samples, viruses, Toxine from biological sources, etc. for humans pathogen work and thus a possible danger represent.   • UN 2814 (for humans infectious substances)

The US' CDC (center for Disease control and Prevention) classifies different illnesses in Biohazardeinstufungen. Whereby from organisms of the level 1 the smallest danger proceeds and rises with higher level the danger potential.

Biohazard level 1: Bacillus subtilis, canine hepatitis, E. coli, varicella (wind smallpox).

Biohazard level 2: Hepatitis B, hepatitis C, influenza, Lyme Borreliose, west Nile virus, Salmonellen, scrapie

Biohazard level 3: Anthrax, spleen fire, typhoid fever, HIV, SARS, Tuberkulose, BSE, smallpox, yellow fever, Mumps,

Biohazard level 4: Ebola, leaving, Hanta virus, Bolivian Fever, Dengue Fever and similar illnesses.
