Bill Bowerman (* 19 February 1911 in haven country (Oregon), "† 24 December 1999) was an American Leichtathletiktrainer, technical designer and an entrepreneur. Into the 1960er years was involved it in the establishment of the later sports article world company Nike. Officially it appears however only 1971 as a joint founder in the firm hierarchy.

As a technical designer in the company it sketched later than Retro model admitted shoe Cortez as well as 1979 with the model the Tailwind the first run shoe with pneumatic cushioning in the intermediate sole into the 1960er year.

With the first copies of his model Waffle coach it is to have coined/shaped the sample on the external sole with the weapon-quiet of its wife.

Its attempts with Fischhaut as external material for run shoes did not become a success.

With the run shoe collection of the yearly 2005 of Nike there is the "Bowerman Series" in its honours again, a compilation of certain models in limited editions with certain equipment characteristics and colors. For the first time the "Bowerman Series" was presented in the year 2001.
