Bible TV is a German-language television station with a 24-Stunden-Vollprogramm, which its seat in Hamburg has and essentially by donations financed. It wants to bring the Bible to humans more near.

Bible TV decreases/goes back to an initiative of the publisher Norman Rentrop. The transmitter was created on 11 January 2001 in Bonn bath Godesberg by 15 partners. Since May 2001 its seat is in Hamburg. The kind of sending was in October 2002.

Managing director is Henning which was before editor-in-chief von ARD-Aktuell and television director of the MDR.

Program contents

A majority of the program is denied by different small transmitters with partially church and free-church background, as for instance the ERF (gospel broadcast). Among them are many Talkshows, which treat topics from all Christian ranges. Besides there are to many Besinnliches and Bible readings. Bible TV is digitally receiptable over the satellite Astra on transponder 57 with the frequency 10,832 GHz in horizontal polarization as well as in numerous digital cable systems. It offers its own Teletext as well as a EPG.

The technical range is in the German-speaking countries about 6.1 million households. In completely Europe there is over 20 million households. Bible TV estimates the actual spectator numbers on 250.000 to 300,000 daily, with rising tendency. (Numbers of 2004)

Financing

The unique Anschubfinanzierung of the partners was used up. Since 2006 Bible TV finances itself mainly over donations of friends and spectators. The annual budget amounts to 2.2 millions EUR. Bible TV is thereby one of the most economical television stations of Europe. (Numbers of 2005)

Program adviser

The program adviser advises the management in all program questions. It pays attention thereby to the adherence to the statutory purpose of the society. The adviser can exist out up to seven members, that are honorary active and are selected by the company meeting for the duration of four years.

The partner circle comes from a Christian surrounding field and is interdenominational; beside Evangelist, catholic and free-church enterprises it also mission works as well as organizations from the medium industry on.
