Berlin Kindl was a traditional brewery in the citizen of Berlin quarter and is today still another well-known citizens of Berlin beer mark.
On 1 February 1872 the restaurant operators/barkeepers Peter Joseph left one, Philipp hunter, Ernst Baumbach, Franz woodpecker and Fritz Schmiedel, the buyer Heinrich Mestern, the bank manager Otto Swoboda and Dr. Bernhad Hesslein in Rixdorf create the association brewery citizen of Berlin of restaurant operators/barkeepers to Berlin AG. This trend minted itself particularly into the 1920ern.
In the First World War worsened the situation. By the imposition of quotas of the Malzverbrauches and the lack of workers, raw and fuels the enterprise had to accept restrictions.
1920 an economical stabilization could be achieved by the sales of two breweries. The department II in potsdam took up again its enterprise and made so an annual production possible of 1.1 million Hektoliter citizen of Berlin Kindl.
Despite - or straight because of - the world economic crisis Kindl wrote black numbers and could its enterprise extend.
The national socialists assigned the seal National Socialist model company to the enterprise. Later sales resistance had to become balanced with a work-free Wednesday.
The Second World War met the brewery still harder. Half of the vehicle park and many coworkers were drawn in. However those could help out Federal Constitutional Court and take over with streetcars the distribution of the beer. As consequence of the rationalizations 1941 also the master spice content on 8% had to be lowered.
In June 1944 Fliegerangriffe destroyed (the airport Tempelhof lying close) the brewery buildings strongly. Prisoners of war were used for the removal of the rubble and for the evacuation of the beer. So the enterprise could be taken up again in July.
Also the postwar years ran for the Kindl brewery unpleasantly. Since Germany had to carry reparation payments out to the Soviet Union, one diminished far parts of the brewing works and established from them in Moscow a new brewery.
Only by exchanges the plants could be established again provisional. This cobbled together plant could finally take up 1947 their enterprise again. Here it is marked that the first two Hektoliter came by day the reopening from the citizens of Berlin brewery.
Due to the citizens of Berlin division one neglected the works in white lake and potsdam. Instead one built the department of I in
1955 took up the enterprise credits with German banks and received American development aid. In the context of the sequential modernization program after the German reunification also the enterprises in white lake and Friedrichshagen were again integrated.
