Captain Benjamin Hornigold (* unknown; "† 1719 before Mexico) were a Freibeuter and a late It was only for short time between 1716 and 1717 as Pirat actively.

Captain Hornigold left new Providence as well as "Blackbeard" Edward Teach in its crew. It captured a Schaluppe, which it subordinated to Teach. They 1717 six ships before the American coast and went into the Karibik on booty course. On 28 November 1717 they captured a French ship of full gold, jewels, slaves and other pieces of booty, the La Concorde (ship) under the command of captain Pierre DOS set. It originated from Nantes and on the way after Martinique had been. It was a true treasure: A Fluyt (sailing boat) of 300 t weight, arms with 40 cannons. It had 75 men crew and transported 516 slaves. Before it at the African coast had been, where it had applied several English, Dutch and Portuguese ships. When meeting the crew is weakened however of diseases and offers no resistance. The Piraten delivered two salvos of cannon shots, the Frenchmen gave up. From the original crew 16 had died and 36 suffered from scurvy and Dysenterie (failure). From the slaves 61 had died. Hornigold handed the La over Concorde at Blackbeard, which renamed her in Queen Anne `s Revenge. Afterwards their ways separated. Four crew members of the La Concorde followed Blackbeard. Further ones were suspended by Blackbeard on the Grenadineninsel Bicoya. The remaining crew, among them the cook, the surgeon and the pilot were pressed by Blackbeard in service. The total value of the booty amounted to over 1.000 Pound.

Blackbeard went to America and Hornigold to new Providence. When Woodes Rogers was appointed the governor of the Bahamas, Hornigold accepted its offer of the royal Pardons. Rogers had a high opinion of Hornigold and assigned it to hunt other unreasonable Piraten among them John Auger and Charles Vane. In the year 1719 Hornigold was sent to Mexico on a commercial journey. Its ship ran on a reef far from the coast and sank. The entire crew and Hornigold were lost.
