Ben Shalom Bernanke [] (* 13 December 1953 in Augusta, Georgia) an US-American economist and at present chairman of the Council are OF Economic Advisers.

Ben Bernanke was nominated in October 2005 by president Bush to the future boss "of the Fed "(Federal reserve system). On 1 February 2006 Ben Bernanke was confirmed by the US senate. Bernanke is thereby central bank head of the USA and thus successors of Alan Greenspan, which held the office from 1987 to 2006.

Life

After its Highschool conclusion 1971 in Dillon, South Carolina it studied until 1975 at Harvard University and attained a doctorate 1979 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to the Ph.D.

Subsequently, it was Assistant and 1983 to 1985 Associate professor at the Stanford university. Between 1996 and 2002 he was a professor and occasional chairmen of the economiceconomics faculty at the University of Princeton.

2002 it under Alan Greenspan governor in the Federal reserve board became. On 21 June 2005 US president Bush appointed it as the chairman of the Council OF Economic Advisers, the most important politico-economic councellor committee of the American government.

On 24 October 2005 Bernanke was suggested of president Bush to the successor of Alan Greenspan as a chairman since 1913 denationalized Federal reserve board. He was selected on 01 February 2006 into this office by the congress. Alan Greenspan steps as an issuing bank president into the retirement. Its nominating to the future boss "of the Fed "is welcomed by the professional world predominantly, provided however for no large surprise, since he was already expected in the apron as most probable Greenspan successors.

Bernanke was a director of the Monetary Economics Program national office of the OF Economic Research, publisher of the American Economic Review as well as member in the Advisory board outstanding journal of the OF Money, Credit, and Banking. Beside a large number of scientific publications Bernanke published also three economical text books.

Bernanke originates from a Jewish family and is married, it has two children.

Economic positioning

Bernanke is considered as a pragmatic economist without deep ideological principles. It stands for one similarly as under Greenspan on price stability aligned monetary policy. In addition it is to be close like these to the republicans. Possibly it will orient its monetary policy however more at nominal goals than Greenspan. Bernanke is considered as a proponent of the strategy to give a border of the inflation rate.

Some years ago the deflation feared in the USA and other countries regarded Bernanke as no large danger: "US government had a technology, called Druckerpresse (or today their electronic equivalent), which it production so many US Dollar permits, like it wishes - and without costs.
