The Bellona: a military journal was a military technical periodical. Between 1781 and 1787 appeared 20 expenditures, which were shifted in the yard bookshop Walthers in Dresden. Publisher was a group of Saxonian officers under the line Karl von Seidels. The magazine was designated after the Roman war goddess of the same name.

The magazine had the requirement papers from all ranges of the war art after own stating to publish as well as contributions to war history. In addition the journal should publish translations and excerpts of foreign military literature. Further topic tables of emphasis were extraordinary actions in the war, poems, new inventions and the promotion scientific discourse by the publication of disputations.

Even if the magazine not all requirements fairly will could was their program very scientifically oriented and modern put on. Particularly valuable this very day the contained contributions are for the history of the seven-year-old of war (1756-1763). After the journal was adjusted 1787 for unknown reasons, it came 1801 to the establishment of the magazine new Bellona.
