As Bavarian cross the largest Leuchtreklame of the world of the company Bayer is well-known in Leverkusen.

The Leuchtreklame was installed 1958. It shows only the emblem of the company Bayer. It hangs high Stahlmasten to two 118 meters and has a diameter of 51 meters and a weight of 300 tons.

For lighting 1712 are used. In the year 2003 the Bavarian cross was overhauled completely.

Already before the Second World War there was a Bavarian cross. This was established 1933 between two 220 meters to high chimneys of a power station and had even a diameter of 72 meters. 1939 were stored it in the course of the war-conditioned collusion measures and dismantled 1944.

In the spring the Bavarian cross is switched off regularly for a few weeks, in order not to irritate migratory birds.
