The Basler convention of 22. March 1989, also admits convention (complete title as Basler: Basel Convention on the control OF Transboundary Movements OF Hazardous which width unit and Their Disposal), is a right work, which is to regulate "control of the transnational placing of dangerous wastes and their disposal (with plants)".

Sense of the agreement is to make world-wide a environmentalfair waste management and control possible of the transnational transportation of dangerous wastes.

Participant and the entry into force

Inkraftgetreten is the agreement to 5. May 1992. Switzerland is since 31 January 1990, Austria since 12 January 1993, Germany since 20 July 1995 contracting parties. The European union converted the guidelines in the European Union waste placing regulation for all member states obligatory (Inkraft stepped 1993).

The USA are the so far only developed country, which refused a ratification so far, which is denounced by many sides such as Greenpeace and the Basel Action network in Seattle. Otherwise at the current time to the 160 states joined the agreement:
