The Banjul Breweries Limited also Julbrew mentioned is of the Gambia largest beverage company with the production location in Serekunda Kanifing in the Kombo St. Mary AREA/Greater Banjul AREA.

With planning to the building of the production plant in the year 1975 was begun and first production started in the year 1977. The brewery has a maximum capacity of 50.000 Hektolitern. At present the output, who is strongly dependent on the tourist trade, is with 35.000 Hektolitern.

The stock majority becomes of the German Brauhaase Int. Management GmbH and of DAH, (both Hamburg) held, while the balance is implemented by the government of the Gambia. At present the brewery employs about 110 Gambian coworkers and two foreign coworkers.

There are efforts to develop soft drinks which added on native, like for example Sorel or Mango, is based.
