Balvenie Distillery is a Whiskybrennerei with Dufftown, Banffshire, Scotland, Great Britain.
Balvenie was built for 1892 by William J. Grant, who created also Glenfiddich. The first combustion found at the 1. May 1893 instead of. Balvenie today still is below the Glenfiddich Destillerie because of the slopes of the Convals close Dufftown. If one said in Dufftown" Rome which built on seven hills, Dufftown which built on seven stills "in such a way has those of Grants here thus their equal part doubly contributed. Meanwhile also still another third Brennerei is on the area: the 1990 opened Kininvie Distillerie. The small Duffton was created once as Balvenie. This very day one can visit the ruins of the Balvenie Castle.
With the establishment of Balvenie one used economical used fuel blisters of Lagavulin and Glen Albyn. 1957 were increased the number of fuel blisters of two to four, 1965 and 1971 the Brennerei was reconditioned and developed. First two further were added, then again one to the four fuel blisters. In the meantime the Brennerei has eight fuel blisters. The water for burning is taken today still local sources (Robbie Dubh), which Balvenie with the large sister Glenfiddich had to divide always likewise, like the boiler kesselschmiede, and the fuel master. Only 15% of the Malzbedarfes are to originate still from own production. Also the handread out cut and dried peat differentiates the small from the large sister. The first single paints however only 1973 was filled up. Up to then the whisky flowed into the internal glare.
The water of the Brennerei to the region Speyside originates from the Robbie Dubh sources. One produces with a Maischbottich (mash to do) of 10,2 tons, ten fermenting tanks (wash-out backs) from pine wood, four wash-out stills of ever 12,729 litres and four spirit stills by likewise in each case 12,729 litres, which are beaconed with steam spirals on the inside. Steam originates from the waste heat Glennfiddichs.
