Automobile Design or Transportation Design is a specialized field industrial design, which is occupied with the organization of the exterior (Exterieur) as well as the interior (Interieur) of vehicles.

Automobile or Transportation Design is occupied with the holistic organization of vehicles of all kinds. Questions of the ergonomics, economics and functionality are classical-prove equivalently to aesthetic/fashionable requirements to typical utensils. Only the special circumstances within the vehicle market let the automobile designer become a specialist for the formal expression of a product.

Due to the strong development of the emotional as well as social function of vehicles in the society the automobile Design (similar the mode Design) represents particularly present subsection to designerischer activity in the public perception. At the same time often conceptional unilateral nature and superficialness are accused to the automobile Design (compared with the classical Design disciplines).

  • Bruno Sacco - 1958 to 1999 technical designer and designer ("stylist") with Mercedes Benz
  • Professor Peter Pfeiffer - since 1978 the line of the department of Design passenger vehicle and commercial motor vehicles with Mercedes Benz (four-eye face, Mercedes Benz CLS class)

  • Walter de'Silva - Italian automobile designer
  • Chris Bangle - US-American automobile designer
  • Barnyi - 1955 to 1972 directors/conductors of the pre-development at Daimler Benz (large tail fin)
