The Antibiose (of gr. Anti = approximately and bios = life), also Karpose mentioned, is a relationship between individual individuals or groups of different kinds (inter+specific relationship), which brings for one of the disadvantages involved with itself and whose growth restrains or kills it.
The Antibiose can be defined on the level of behavior biology or on molecular level and happens purposefully as defense mechanism and at the elimination of environmental condition changed of competition or indirectly as result, like food shortage. The human immune system works e.g. antibiotic opposite viruses, because it kills the life of the viruses.
In behavior biology and ecology one understood by Antibiose:
In every case these relations today as against the life (thus antibiotic) seen, there these relations just like symbiosis, Parabiose, Probiose only one aspect of complex cooperating of a (partnership) is.
More frequently by Antibiose growth inhibition or killing of micro organisms is understood by Stoffwechselprodukte of other bacteria, mushrooms or also partially plants of higher order. Such killing will be used as protective mechanism forwards or defense of parasites and of bacteria or viruses. In the Pflanzenreich some mushrooms restrict the growth of bacteria by synthesized antibiotics. In the broader sense gives it in addition, many eliminations of plants and animals, which restrain other organisms of the environment in their growth.
There are further examples with many organisms, which protect their outer skin by Antibiose of impurities. In the sea water are by it among other things sponges, sea-sheaths, sea-rollers, Weichkorallen and Gorgonien affected.
