Aycinena is the name of an entrepreneur and a politician dynasty, in 18. and 19. Century an outstanding role in late and post office-colonial central America, in particular in Guatemala, played. The family Aycinena belongs until today to the most influential families of Guatemala.

Master father of the family in Guatemala was Juan de Aycinena e (* 1729 in Ziga, Navarra, Spain; "† 1796 in Guatemala city). He emigrated 1749 first to Mexico, where he was briefly in Mexico city and afterwards four years in Oaxaca. 1754 it moved to Santiago de Guatemala, where it created the trading firm Casa de Aycinena. It succeeded to it not to even become within 20 years the prominent buyer and banker and probably richest man central America. Basis of its business success was thereby above all the cultivation of and trade with Indigo. After the nearly complete destruction of the city Santiago de Guatemala by an earthquake on 26 July 1773 Aycinena was considerably involved in the structure of the new capital Nueva Guatemala de la (Guatemala city). It possessed the only private house at the central market place of the new capital. Juan de Aycinena was raised from the Spanish king Karl III. first with the title of a Vizconde de Aldecoa into the hereditary aristocracy. 1785 were lent to it the title de Aycinena. He was thereby the only aristocrat in the latecolonial central America. Juan de Aycinena was three times married, first with Juana Carillo y then with Micaela de y Mencos and last with Micaela y the sister of its daughter-in-law Juana y

Further important members of the family were:

Miguel de Aycinena y (* 29 October 1786 in Guatemala city; "† 23 August 1829 in Havanna) was finally lecturer in theology, Prior and Ordensprovinzial of the Dominikanerordens in central America (1820-25). When 1829 the government of its brother Mariano was fallen by Francisco it had to leave the country and went to Cuba into the exile, where it died shortly thereafter.

Mariano de Aycinena y (* 16 September 1789 in Guatemala city; "† 22 January 1855 in Guatemala city), head of state of the province Guatemala (1827-29).

Dr. Juan de Aycinena y , IIITH de Aycinena (* 29 August 1792 in Guatemala city; "† 17 February 1865 in Guatemala city), catholic priest, entrepreneur and politician.

Lic. Pedro de Aycinena y (* 1802; "† 14. March 1897), Guatemalan president (1865).

Dr. Bernardo y Aycinena ("† 24 April 1881 in Guatemala city) was of 1860-67 bishop von in Nicaragua, where it weihte on 20 November 1860 the cathedral. He was subsequently, of 1867-81 archbishop of Guatemala. After the liberal revolution of 1871 took part allegedly in revolution plans against the government of the president Granados. It thereupon by regulation from 17 October 1871 of the country referred and had to go to Panama into the exile.
