Axel Metzler (* 9 December 1939 in Stuttgart; "† 6 April 2004 in Stuttgart) was a German entrepreneur. It became known to a broad public as a president of the former member of the soccer federal league Stuttgart kicker.

Axel thin forest was born as a son of Josef thin forest, Staatskapellmeister at the Stuttgart opera. Its life was closely connected with Stuttgart kicker. Its employment in the protection against the association in the upper league south, the then highest play class in the German football followed years as youth players with this association between 1958 and 1961. It terminated its active career early at the age of 22 years, when it did after a Foul at an opponent and the associated barrier without further employments.

Now he dedicated himself more strongly to his vocational career and began at the company Metzler international, the then largest eyeglass selling of the world to work than managing directors. There he learned Ursi Metzler, which daughter of the company owner, his later wife.

In May 1979 he transferred the office of the president with Stuttgart kicker. Under its presidency and owing to its financial promotion twice (1988 and 1991) the ascent succeeded into the soccer federal league. 1987 stood the association in the final around the DFB cup. In the last years the association turned out however increasingly into the crisis. Apart from sporty driving downhill and the only scarcely repelled descent into the Viertklassigkeit the association turned out in the spring 2003 also to the edge of the financial ruin. The inability to pay knew only by the sales of the association-own, after Axel Metzler designated, ADM Sportparks to be turned away. In July 2003 it delivered the office of the association president to his successor Hans Kullen.

Axel Metzler succumbed to a cancer of the lungs suffering on 6 April 2004 at the age of 64 years.
