Away Yellowstone is former US Army basis, which serves today for the administration of the Yellowstone national park.

History

The Yellowstone national park became at the 1. March 1872 based and was thus the first national park of the world. In the years after its establishment a civilian team with limited resources led the park. This group was not able to protect the Flora and fauna of the park against Vandalismus and exploitation. Therefore she handed control of the park to 1886 over to US Army.

The Army established a camp, Camp Sheridan in the north of the Parkes, in close proximity to Mammoth Hot jumps. At the 11. May 1891 began the Army at the same place with the building of the away Yellowstone. Up to the autumn they had established the first twelve buildings, among them guardhouse for 15 prisoners, one administration building with three offices, two officer buildings, a barrack for 60 soldiers, a supply memory, a baker's shop and a stable. 1893 supplemented the Army the away by a hospital with ten beds as well as by a camp for 150 tons hay. Thus the capacities of the Forts were enough well, in order to accommodate an individual troop. Between 1897 and 1909 the Army extended the capacities of the Forts for a second troop. The building of additional mechanisms like a chapel and a new hospital terminated the Army until 1913. The Army continued to use the away, until she handed over 1918 control of the park and the away to the again created national park service. That national park service uses since then the mechanisms of the away Yellowstone as administrative centre for the Yellowstone national park as well as a park museum.
