William Averell Harriman (* 15 November 1891 in New York, NY, the USA; "† 26 July 1986) was an US-American politician of the democratic party), businessman and diplomat.

Averell Harriman was the son of the Eisenbahnmoguls Edward Henry Harriman and Mary Williamson Averell, brother of E. Roland Harriman. It was first married with Kitty Lanier Lawrence, which deceased in the year 1936. Later he married again, Marie Norton Whitney, which had left its married man Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney, around Harriman to conjugal. Its third and last wedding was with Pamela the Beryl Digby, the former wife of Winston Churchill's son, Randolph, and the Broadway producer Leland Hayward.

Political career

Harriman was a successful student of the Yale university, and also together with Prescott Bush in the Skull & Bones society was appointed there. Harriman worked under President Franklin Roosevelt as a special envoy to Europe, and participated with the meeting between Winston Churchill and the US president in Placentia Bay in August 1941.
